Welcome to my blog!

I've decided to stop using the inferior blog software on my old websites for and move to something a little more sophisticated. I hope you enjoy reading my posts on backpacking gear and DIY projects. Feel free to leave comments. -Jason

Jason, tell us about the blog software you are using here. You say it is better, what did you use to use.

Thanks, a fellow BPL member, Roleigh Martin

PS - I follow your blog via Google Reader, have you tried that?

Hi Roleigh,
I use blogger.com because it's user friendly and easy to incorporate a lot of widgets. It's also a lot more reliable than the blog feature that comes with webs.com--never goes down or has any glitches. I know Google Reader but don't use it. Between my Blackberry, the forums, and email, I'm already way too connected and don't have time to keep up on everything. Plus, I can keep tabs on blogs I like via my "What's happening in the backpacking blogosphere" sidebar on my blog. Thanks for reading!

Jason, it's precisely because time is precious that I use GOogle Reader, it saves me 90% of my browsing time to keep up with the same amount of material. Try it for one week and you'll agree. Subscribe to all the web sites you now browse via google reader. Google Reader gives you a 1-liner of those web sites for each posting/story, then if that gets your fancy, you can click on the 1 liner to get a paragraph, then if that gets your fancy, double click to the full web page. you can change preferences to initially see the first 2-3 lines of each posting if you like. If you find something, you can save it or share it or email it from inside google reader. You can go many days never visiting any web page but google reader.

OK, you've convinced me! I'll give it a try and see if it's a time saver. Thanks for the push!

Jason, I forgot, google reader does not let you subscribe to BPL forum new posts. That I have to visit daily. But it does let you subscribe to BPL new articles.
